2/3/10: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

MUSIC: Marc Cohn and Suzanne Vega @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Grammy-winning Cohn is still best known for “Walking in Memphis,” but his new material – following a near-fatal shooting when he was car-jacked in ’05 – is even better. Vega rose to the top of the singer-songwriter scene with such memorable songs as “Luka,” “Marlene on the Wall” and “Tom’s Diner,” and her new album, “Close-Up, Vol. 1: Love Songs,” is due out next week. Reviewing a Lincoln Center performance last week, The New York Post hailed her as “one of our most important singer/songwriters with intelligent, crafty lyrics hitched to music that’s not only memorable but also hummable.” 8pm. $29-$43.

THEATER: “Betrayal” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. It’s the final week for this haunted production of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter‘s classic drama of infidelity and self-deception. Tonight’s performance will be followed by a discussion with Cap Rep’s artistic director Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill and the cast. The production runs through Sunday. 7:30pm. $15-$39.
