ArtBeat: Martin Benjamin’s “Atomic Age” @ Yates Gallery

In just the past year, the work of Schenectady photographer and Union College art professor Martin Benjamin has graced the cover of Metroland, The New York Daily News and Thoroughbred Times – not to mention Nippertown.com.

So you can imagine the sheer quality and quantity of fine photography that he’s amassed over the course of his award-winning career.

“Atomic Age” – currently on exhibit at the Yates Gallery at Siena College in Loudonville – touches on much of that work. It’s an exhibition of two dozen black and white photographs spanning the quarter century between 1978-2003.

The exhibit is a slightly expanded version of Benjamin’s recent show in Atlanta, and both exhibitions were culled from the pages of Benjamin’s long-overdue first book, also titled “Atomic Age,” published late last year.

Martin Benjamin’s “Atomic Age” will remain on view at Siena College’s Yates Gallery through Friday, March 12.
