Nippertown Country

WGNAThe Country Music Association Awards are being held in Nashville on Wednesday, November 10, and the Nippertown country music community is represented with two nominations this year.

For the second consecutive year, WGNA-FM has been nominated as Medium Market Station of the Year. The competition in the category includes KFDI (Wichita, Kansas), KXKT (Omaha, Nebraska), WIVK (Knoxville, Tennessee) and – surprisingly enough – WBBS in Syracuse.

And WGNA disc jockey Kevin Richards also earned a nomination as Medium Market Broadcast Personality of the Year. He can be heard weekdays on the air from 10am-3pm. Richards – who was also nominated in 2000 – won the award in 2006, making this his third nomination in the category.

The CMA Awards show will be broadcast live at WTEN-TV – as well as WGNA-FM – at 8pm on Wednesday.
