They didn’t invent world music. In fact, they were playing together for years before the catch-all term “world music” was even coined.

The dazzling guitar duo of Strunz and Farah have been spanning the music of the world for more than three decades, and that should come as no surprise considering that Jorge Strunz was born in Costa Rica, but grew up in Colombia, Mexico, Spain, England and Canada. His musical partner Ardeshir Farah was born in Iran and schooled in England. From opposite ends of the globe, they came together in the U.S. and released their debut album together in 1980. Their world fusion sounds – combining flamenco with Middle Eastern and Latin American folk – have been captivating audiences ever since.

Their album “Primal Magic” was named Billboard’s World Music Album of the Year. Their album “Americas” earned them a Grammy nomination. More than a dozen albums later, they released their newest album, “Journey Around the Sun.”

And now the ongoing musical journey of Strunz and Farah brings them to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall on Sunday evening. Prepare to be amazed…

In support of “Journey Around the Sun,” Strunz and Farah and their band grace the stage at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy at 7pm on Sunday. Tix are $20, $25 & $30; children and students $15.
