MUSIC: Masters of Tradition @ The Egg’s Swyer Theatre, Albany. Celebrating Irish music in its purest form with renowned fiddler Martin Hayes, who will be joined by vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird, fiddler Cathal Hayden, guitarists Dennis Cahill and Seamie O’Dowd, Máirtín O’Connor on accordion, and uilleann piper David Power for an evening Celtic jigs, reels and airs. 7:30pm. $28.

READING: Walter Kirn @ UAlbany Performing Arts Center’s Recital Hall, Albany. The journalist and fiction writer reads from his torn-from-the-tabloids new non-fiction book, “Blood Will Out,” about the author’s 10-year friendship with “Clark Rockefeller,” the serial con artist and murderer. 8pm. FREE. Also a free seminar at 4:15pm at the UAlbany Campus Center’s Assembly Hall.

FILM: “RoboCup 99” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Finnish director Mika Taanila’s documentary follows the antics of soccer playing robots pitted against each other at the annual RoboCup tournament on the eve of the 21st century. 7:30pm. $6.

THEATER: “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany.”Everything’s Coming Up Roses…” Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill directs the classic musical based on the memoirs of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, featuring a cast of 23 from Broadway star Mary Callanan to local TV personality Benita Zahn. 7:30pm. $20-$65. Through April 13.

FILM: “Bananaland” @ Skidmore College’s Gannett Auditorium, Saratoga Springs. By filmmaker Jason Glaser. The movie will be followed by a discussion. 7pm. FREE.

FILM: “Miss Representation” @ Albany Law School’s Dean Alexander Moot Courtroom, Albany. Jennifer Siebel Newsom’s documentary explores the effects of the media’s increasingly limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls. 5:15pm reception; 5:45pm screening; 7:30pm panel discussion with Mayor Kathy Sheehan, Albany Law School Dean Penelope Andrews, more.
