Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements

The ever-soulful Louisiana singer-accordionist Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience – who took home the Grammy Award for Best Regional Roots Music Album in January for their Dockside Sessions album – will play a fundraising concert for the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern New York at NaNola in Malta on Saturday, April 5. The event is slated to begin at 6pm with complimentary craft beer and food sampling until show time, which is 8pm. Suggested donation is $15.

In the wake of their sparkling concert earlier this month at the Steamer No. 10 Theatre, Swamp Baby and Ryder & Hazel with the Dust Bowl Faeries have decided to team up again for a co-headlining show at Club Helsinki in Hudson at 9pm on Saturday, June 28. Two Cats in Suits will open the show. Ticket price is TBA.

New shows announced for the Low Beat in Albany include Snowmine at 8pm on Sunday, June 22 ($10 in advance) and the inevitable reunion of Blotto at 8pm on Saturday, May 31 ($12 in advance).

SOLD OUT: The Hold Steady’s show on Friday, April 11 at the Hollow Bar + Kitchen in Albany is now officially sold out.

A couple of new shows have been added to the concert calendar of the Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park. I See Stars take the spotlight on Wednesday, April 23, with Like Moths to Flames, Ghost Town, Razihel, Miss Fortune and Like Lions in support. Showtime is 6:30pm, and tickets are now of sale for $15 in advance; $18 at the door. Also, Sevendust roars back into Clifton Park at 8pm on Friday, June 6, in support of their upcoming acoustic studio album, Time Travelers & Bonfires, due out next month. Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (March 28), priced at $20 in advance; $23 at the door.

Dude looks like a lady… Aerosmith tribute band Draw the Line takes over the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield at 8:30pm on Saturday, April 19. Tickets are $22.

POSTPONED: Guitarslinger Jonny Lang is still scheduled to hit the Palace Theatre spotlight on Friday (March 28) as part of the all-star tribute concert Experience Hendrix, but his headlining show which was originally slated for Sunday, June 8 at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington has been postponed til 8pm on Thursday, August 21.

Among the upcoming new shows at the Falcon in Marlboro are David Johansen (Saturday, April 5), Rhett Miller (Wednesday, April 9), Larry Coryell & Gil Parris (Thursday, April 10), the Ed Palermo Big Band presenting Zodd Zundgren, a musical Zappa/Rundgren mash-up (Saturday, April 12), the Cookers (Friday, April 18), the Holmes Brothers (Saturday, April 19) and more…

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: FLY-92’s annual Summer Jam celebration will return to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs again with a line-up that includes performances by Jason Derulo in support of his new album Talk Dirty), MKTO (the duo of Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller) and Swedish hitmakers Icona Pop, as well as NONONO, R5 and Timeflies.
