THEATER: “Who’s Hungry?” @ MCLA’s North Adams Puppet Lab, North Adams. It’s thought-provoking, experimental puppetry based on the oral histories of homeless and hungry individuals, directed by puppeteer extraordinaire Dan Hurlin. 2 & 7pm. $10; $5 students. Also at 3pm on Sunday.

MUSIC: Regina Carter @ The Egg, Albany. After a simply brilliant performance at The Egg back in ’10 in support of her Afro-centric album Reverse Thread, the magnificent jazz violinist turns her attention to American country and bluegrass music with Southern Comfort. 8pm. $29.50.

MUSIC: Blue Factory @ McGeary’s Pub, Albany. Still high after the December release of their latest album, California, the Crawley boys lead the band into McGeary’s. Opening the show is Sergio Sericolo – formerly of the Local 518 ’80s band Even the Odd and currently an accomplished visual artist – who is making a return to music with his debut solo album, Something to Prove I Was Here. 8pm.

MUSIC: Annie & the Hedonists @ the Eighth Step at Proctors, Schenectady. One of Nippertown’s most eclectic bands is joined by master dobro/guitarist Kevin Maul for a special homegrown music night at the Step. 7:30pm. $20; $35.

MUSIC: Yoma @ the Low Beat, Albany. The hometown post-rockers celebrate the release of their new album Approaching Silence (released last month), as well as Earthbound, a brand new EP. These guys are busy… With lastdayshing, Soft Powers and Blankwave. 8pm.

MUSIC: Accents @ Red Square, Albany. Celebrating the release of their new album, Tall Tales, on Deep Elm Records. With Black Mountain Symphony, Call Security and the Racer. 9pm. $8.

FILM/TALK: Albert Maysles @ the Sanctuary for Independent Media, Troy. A pioneer in the world of documentary filmmaking, Maysles will screen films and discuss his life and work (“Grey Gardens,” “Gimme Shelter,” “Christo’s Valley Curtain” and so many more). 7pm. $10; $5 stuydents & low income.

MUSIC/BURLESQUE: “Finding Love at the Ritz” @ River Street Pub, Troy. Featuring the Ritz Carlton Band with the Ladies of Burlesque, including Persephone Pomme, Betty Bonneville, Trixie Firecracker, Honey Cummings, Heather Whatever, Baby Dead Girl. 9pm. $12.

MUSIC: Tim Eriksen & the Trio de Pumpkintown @ WAMC-FM’s The Linda, Albany. Founder of legendary New England folk-punk pioneers Cordelia’s Dad, Eriksen is fast becoming a legend on his own. Among his many exploits, he may be the only musician to have performed with both Kurt Cobain and Doc Watson. History never sounded so good. With emcee and opening act Michael Eck as Ukulele Mike. 8pm. $18.

MUSIC: Cabinet @ the Hollow Bar & Kitchen, Albany. This six-piece band from the Pennsylvania mountains is bringing bluegrass instruments, harmonies and energy into the modern world, drawing inspiration from every one from Flatt & Scruggs to Phish to Bob Marley. With Big Leg Emma. 9:30pm. $15.

MUSIC: “Sixties Spectacular” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers headlines the flashback concert, along with performances by Gary Puckett, the Vogues and the 1910 Fruitgum Company. 7pm. $39.75, $47.75 & $54.75.

MUSIC: The Hot Club of Saratoga @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Playing the Gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt and more. 8pm. $15 in advance; $17 at the door.

MUSIC: Ray Vega & Keith Pray: The Boogie Down 2.0 @ the Van Dyck, Schenectady. An alum of groundbreaking Latin jazz bands led by Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Mario Bauza and others, trumpeter Vegas teams up with Nippertown super saxman Pray for an intimate evening at the Van Dyck. 8pm. $15.

MUSIC: Sirsy Supersized @ Putnam Den, Saratoga Springs. The pop-rock duo of Melanie Krahmer and Rich Libutti expands to a quartet with the one-night-only addition of bassist-vocalist Margo Macero and keyboardist-vocalist Benjamin Zoleski. With Citizen’s Treasure. 9:30pm. $7.

THEATER: “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany.”Everything’s Coming Up Roses…” Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill directs the classic musical based on the memoirs of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, featuring a cast of 23 from Broadway star Mary Callanan to local TV personality Benita Zahn. 3 & 8pm. $20-$65. MUSIC: Saint Rose Camerata @ College of Saint Rose’s Massry Center, Albany. An exploration of contemporary chamber music featuring amplified instruments and works with electronics by George Crumb, Marshall Ingram and Assistant Professor Dr. Sean McClowry, plus a jazz-inspired work by David Alpher. 7:30pm. MUSIC: Ying String Quartet @ Skidmore College’s Zankel Music Center, Saratoga Springs. Under the direction of Michael Emery, the Grammy Award-winning quartet performs as part of Skidmore’s 10th annual string festival. 8pm. $8; $5 seniors; FREE students & children.

THEATER: “Motherhood Out Loud” @ the Unicorn Theatre, Stockbridge. Directed by Jayne Atkinson. THEATER: “A Piece of My Heart” @ Confetti Stage at the Albany Masonic Hall’s Fourth Floor Theater, Albany. Written by Shirley Lauro and directed by Linda Shirey, the play is based on the actual accounts of the diverse women who served our country in the Vietnam War. 7:30pm. $15. Through April 6.

MUSIC: UHADI @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Led by saxophonist McCoy Mrubata, the all-star jazz quintet from Johannesburg, South Africa kicks off their first ever U.S. tour at the Bearsville Theater, celebrating 20 years of South African democracy.
