PERFORMANCE: Gordon Hall @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Titled after a line from composer John Cage’s remarkable 1959 “Lecture on Nothing,” Gordon Hall’s lecture-performance “Read me that part a-gain, where I disin-herit everybody” offers a history of lecture-performances using sculptural objects, sound, and projected images. 7pm. MUSIC: Olivia Newton John Denver @ Christopher’s Pub at the Northway Mall, Albany. After recently completing a west coast tour with Rod Stewart Copeland, ONJD play a headlining homecoming show in support of their upcoming debut album. 8pm. $16 in advance; $20 at the door.

READING/PERFORMANCE: Nitty Gritty Poetry Slam @ the Low Beat, Albany. With featured poet Jared Paul. 7pm sign-up; 7:30pm open mic; 8pm slam. $5; $3 students.

MUSIC: Diana Kralling Through the Wreckage @ Uncle Ray’s, Albany. Intimate piano jazz re-inventions of Dave Edmunds’ catalog. 8pm. $35.

MUSIC: Portugal. The Woman @ the Electric Grinch, Schenectady. The all-female Portugal. The Man tribute band returns to town for their third concert of the year. With Sayer – Leo Sayer’s new band of heavy-metal headbangers – opening the show. 9pm. $6.

THEATER: “Gypsy: A Musical Fable” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany.”Everything’s Coming Up Roses…” Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill directs the classic musical based on the memoirs of famed stripper Gypsy Rose Lee, featuring a cast of 23 from Broadway star Mary Callanan to local TV personality Benita Zahn. 7:30pm. $20-$65. MUSIC: Pete Seeger & the Silver Bullet Band @ Tiger’s Pub, Clifton Park. It’s an Americana-meets-Motor City mash-up. With Joe, Bowtie & Maryann opening the show. 9pm. $15.

MUSIC: Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings of Leon Russell @ the Bijou, Saratoga Springs. Today’s best bet. This one is going to rock. Don’t forget your dancing shoes. 8pm. $12.

MUSIC: The Ex-Wife’s Wooden Leg @ the Mad Hatter, Guilderland. The acclaimed Paul McCartney tribute band “wings” its way into town for their Nippertown debut. 7:30pm. $7.

    I really miss the days when there was open mic at Chuckrows. I think there was free chicken wings. We would then head over to the Chateau.
