As the NYC rock trio Blockhouses get set to play a pair of dates around Nippertown with the Figgs this weekend, they’ve also just released a brand spankin’ new single, the super-catchy “One More Time to Get Home” b/w “Little Sweetie.”

Blockhouses guitarist Guy Lyons was the lead guitarist of the Figgs back in the day, and in addition to Blockhouses’ opening sets at the Low Beat and Putnam Den, he’ll also be joining the Figgs to play Lo Fi at Society High in its entirety in celebration of the 20th anniversary of that classic album.

The high-octane Blockhouses obviously love revved-up, hook-laden rock and roll — from the Ramones to the blistering pop-punk of today – and they’ve upped the ante with the addition of new drummer Jim Balga, who anchors the hard-driving rhythm section with bassist Christopher Peifer.

Blockhouses, led by former Figgs guitarist Guy Lyons, are back in Nippertown this weekend for a pair of shows with the Figgs. On both nights Lyons will join the Figgs to perform their 1994 album “Lo-Fi at Society High” in its entirety. They’ll be at the Low Beat in Albany at 8pm tonight (Friday, December 19) ($10 in advance) and at Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs at 9pm on Saturday ($10 at the door; $15 if under age 21).
