Just a coupla guys sittin’ around playin’ whatever they feel like playin’ on their guitars…

But when those guys just happen to be David Bromberg and Larry Campbell, well, you can bet that there were plenty of fretboard fireworks goin’ on even during a relaxed front-porch setting like the recent one at The Egg in Albany.

UPCOMING: Larry Campbell will be playing at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock tonight (Friday, May 8) as part of benefit “Soundout: The Music of Neil Young” concert. You can also catch Campbell with his wife-singer Teresa Williams at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday, June 26, as they celebrate the release of their new duo album.

Great photos for a great show. We got fiddle tunes on the guitar in part as a tribute to Doc Watson, Larry Campbell’e beautiful composition that honored the closing of a historic San Francisco theater “The Warfield Waltz”, their great renditions of Dylan’s “It Takes a Lot to Laugh …” their back and forth on “Deep Elem Blues” and of course sublime versions of “Delia” and “Mr. Bojangles”. Mr. Bromberg did his best to keep up with Mr. Campbell, but toward the end of the evening he turned to the audience and said “I took about twenty years off and I’m still working on getting my chops back”. Bromberg’s still got plenty, but Larry Campbell – WOW! Come back soon.
