MUSIC: Opera Saratoga @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Acclaimed soprano Caroline Worra celebrates the poetry and lyrics of Bob Dylan, including the Saratoga premiere of John Corigliano’s “Mr. Tambourine Man,” a beautiful, haunting and powerful setting of some of Dylan’s most famous lyrics by the Academy Award-winning composer of “The Red Violin.” 8pm. $20. MUSIC: Mike Gordon @ The Egg, Albany. MUSIC: Brian LaPoint & the Joints @ the Rustic Barn Pub, Troy. CD release party for their new album, Pick Me Up. All 10 musicians who played on the album will be on the stage. A special acoustic performance, as well as a performance of the album in its entirety. 8pm.

THEATER: “The Epic of Gligamesh” @ Bridge Street Theatre, Catskill. Kaliyuga Arts presents a contemporary re-telling of the first great work of world literature, the ancient Babylonian poem. Directed and designed by John Sowle, the production features actor Steven Patterson in a virtuoso solo performance. 7:30pm. $15; $10 students & seniors. Through Sunday, June 21.

THEATER: “Kinky Boots” @ Proctors, Schenectady. The six-time Tony Award-winning musical by Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein musical follows a struggling shoe factory owner who works to turn his business around with help from Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. Together, the unlikely pair discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world. 8pm. $25-$90. Through Sunday.

This emotional portrait of the writer and civil rights activist, delivered mostly in his own words, combines intimate interviews, public speeches, rarely seen archival footage and illuminating contributions from friends and colleagues like Maya Angelou, Amiri Baraka and William Styron.
