LIVE: Veronica Swift @ A Place for Jazz, Schenectady 10/18/2019

Fans of jazz vocals were treated by two sets by sensation Veronica Swift and her piano trio at A Place For Jazz. Those who witnessed her first appearance in the area at Freihofer Jazz Festival at the gazebo this summer certainly knew what to expect and she delivered it in droves.

This time with a different trio then at SPAC, featuring Julius Rodriguez on piano, Philip Norris on bass and Aaron Kimmel on drums.  The ensemble sailed through the sets with music in the jazz tradition of adopting Broadway show tunes and making them their own.

The show stopping performance was at the end of the first set when Veronica performed a duet of “Pennies From Heaven” with her mother Stephanie Nakasian.

1st set: Crazy Rhythm, Goody Goody, Interlude, Dat Dere, September in the Rain, Stranger/Pennies from Heaven

2nd set: How Lovely to Be a Woman, All My Tomorrows, Tomorrow’s Another Day, Gypsy, Confession/Another Woman, What am I Doing with You, Thanks for you/We’ll Be Together, Tea for Two

The last performance of the series for 2019 concludes on November 1st with the swinging Phil Allen’s Concert Jazz Band.
