LIVE: Amy Helm & The Sea The Sea @ Alive at 5, 07/14/2021

ALBANY — Nippertowners are hungry for live music and do just about anything to hear it.

This was clearly demonstrated when Amy Helm played at the Alive At Five rain site underneath the 787 overpass in Albany. Fans braved through heavy rain and the fear of lightning to hear live music. This is the third time in a row that the series has been forced to use this alternative site.

Locally based The Sea The Sea opened. They clearly demonstrated their famous harmonies and that has commanded national attention.

Amy Helm and her band overcame the less than ideal sound (traffic noise, concrete walls) to put on an impressive set in support of her latest album, What the Flood Leaves Behind.

The site was as close to capacity as it would be for a rain date.

We’re hoping next week’s show featuring the Funk of Yam Yam and Hartley’s Encore is full of sunshine and will be at the usual site at Jenning’s Landing.
