Jake & Brandon Offer FREE Concert at Cohoes Music Hall, August 25th

There’s a special end of summer concert being thrown at The Cohoes Music Hall Wednesday night, 8/25 at 8 pm featuring Jake Goodman and Brandon Jones on piano and Dan Galliher on drums. Three very talented pianists getting together to have fun and put on a show for you. Brandon who was so fantastic in Playhouse Stage’s production of “Ain’t Misbehavin’” this summer in the Park, Jake was in the pit band for Not So Common Players at Clifton Commons and Dan has been gigging nearly every weekend it seems this summer. I bothered young Mister Goodman for a quick q&a before he leaves town again.

Patrick White: So, I saw you in the band for “Marvelous Wonderettes,” what else have you been doing with your summer?

Jake Goodman: Other than “Wonderettes,” I was on Keys 1 for “South Pacific” at Not So Common Players. I haven’t been able to do much else, but I’m hoping next summer will be much more full of theater for me!

What does the Fall hold for you? What school are you returning to and do you know what you’re doing this semester?

This fall, I’ll be a sophomore in Pace University’s BFA musical theater program, which I am so excited about. I love my program and all of the friends I have made in it.

What is the play or musical that changed your life?

Whew! This one’s a toughie. I got into theater because my parents love “The Phantom of the Opera,” and because of that, I’ve also come to love it. But the show I did that really solidified my love for musical theater was “A Christmas Story” in St. Paul, Minnesota, and again a year later at Capital Repertory Theater. 

What’s the idea behind the show and what can we expect from the concert? 

Brandon and I had this idea years ago, simply because we thought it would be a fun thing to do. We cannot wait to share it with the public. It has a bit of everything, some musical theater, some jazz standards, some classic rock. I think the audience will certainly be entertained by the variety of tunes we have.

What are you most grateful to Capital Region theater for?

I’m most grateful for the people in Capital Region theater. I will FOREVER be grateful for all the companies that I have worked with growing up. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime and received pre-professional training like no place else. Capital Region theater made me want to pursue a degree in musical theater.
