Slidin’ Dirty to celebrate seven years with live Music, local brews on the Streets of Troy

The restaurant will celebrate seven years with live bands, local beers and painting on the street.

TROY — Local restaurant and popular food truck Slidin’ Dirty will take over their downtown Troy First Street once again with their annual block party. The free, all-ages event will take place Friday, Sept. 24, 5-9 p.m., featuring one of the best food trucks of the Capital Region, local beers from Rare Form Brewing, live painting and prints from Troy Art Group and an intoxicatingly fun lineup of bands.

Philadelphia’s Chestnut Grove, a funky, R&B-tinged rock quintet, is making their way to the Collar City. The band released their first full-length, called The Album in spring 2021 after an extensive career of touring. Discussing the return to live events after a year off due to COVID-19 regulations, Chestnut Grove’s James Daniels recently told The Key, “We were used to playing about 100+ shows a year since 2015 so this entire year off was really good for us overall but we are ready to get back to doing what we do best.”

“I can’t wait to play to live audiences again. The feeling of connecting with them is irreplaceable,” Dee Gerhart added.

The band will be co-headlining with Saratoga’s own Let’s Be Leonard, a wildly talented group of musicians who are always good for a jam. The band’s latest project Static, recorded over two weeks at Salem Art Works, was released in 2018. 

Troy’s Laveda will also join the bill, performing as a duo in their first Capital Region show since spending the summer in Los Angeles working on their sophomore album. The project will be released via PaperCup Music. Their debut full-length What Happens After, called a work of “meticulous and equally moving sound, crafted through hours of experimentation in the studio, was released in 2020. 

This year’s block party also features a fun, new community element from Troy Art Group. The privately owned, performance-based public art organization will have members live painting unique works onsite. They will also be selling prints of the artists’ work. 

When the music’s over and the artists have tucked away their wares, attendees are invited to come inside for an afterparty with the Sildin’ Dirty crew. Featuring one of a kind sliders and snacks, locally brewed beer, great music and interactive art, this block party may just be the standout of September’s Troy Night Out celebrations.
