Patrick Droney Coming to Lark Hall on Feb 27th

The algorithm that Spotify uses to suggest new artists has been spot on for me lately. A few months ago a song came through my car stereo that stopped me in my tracks. “Glitter” by Patrick Droney hit me like a gut punch. The song about loss, compares grief to glitter. No matter how hard you try to clean it up, it keeps reappearing when you least expect it.

I quickly did a deep dive into his music and found that once again Spotify delivered. His most current release State of the Heart – The Deluxe Edition is chock full of killer hooks, memorable melodies and next level guitar work. As he puts it the songs are about “the reckoning of what’s behind you, finding meaning in loss, the essence of time, and the pursuit of self.”

Droney first picked up his first guitar before he hit grade school and received the Robert Johnson Foundation’s Next Generation Award as “Best Young Blues Guitarist” when he was 13 years old. Along the way he has shared the stage with the likes of BB King, Taj Mahal, Robbie Kreiger, Todd Rundgren, James Brown, The Roots, Macy Gray and Elvis Costello. Guitar legend Billy Gibbons features on Droney’s cover of the ZZ Top classic “Rough Boy” on State of the Heart.

He was originally scheduled to play in Montreal on February 27th but the show needed to be canceled due to government restrictions. Montreal’s loss turned out to be Albany’s gain. Droney will bring his State of the Heart tour to Albany’s Lark Hall with special guest morgxn. This is an opportunity to see a future star in a small, intimate venue. Get your tickets now. Thank me later.
