The Attic Classic: Mambo-X hooked up with Mitch Easter, producer of R.E.M.’s early albums, to record ‘Whirled,’ their final album. But there were earlier singles and EP’s from this Albany band with a danceable jangle-rock sound, meshed with singer Erin O’Hara’s Irish tinged vocals.

In 1987 the band headed to Cotton Hill Studios and recorded the EP ‘Machines of Eden.’ The band had been touring clubs and small halls, sometimes as the opener, other times as the headliner for up-&-coming acts. The EP captured the band’s distinct sound, reinforcing their status as one of the top rock bands in the area.

From that EP is the Attic Classic “building bridges and bombing them.” If you can’t find the original records in one of our fine local shops, Mambo-X can be found on Bandcamp.
