LIVE: Korn @ MVP Arena, 03/20/2022

Albany’s MVP Arena hosted the return of Korn to the Capital District on Sunday night. Touring in support of their latest release Requiem, Jonathan Davis and company hit the stage with the same energy that fans have come to expect from them.

It was apparent from the opening lines of “Forgotten” from Requiem that the fans love the new material as much as the classics. The fans I saw knew every word. The band followed it up with two huge classics, “Got the Life” and “Here to Stay.” The general admission pit jumped to life with bodies flying over the crowd, moving as one to the music. New bass player Ra Diaz brought great energy to the set. He locked in with drummer Ray Luzier and laid a tight, in-the-pocket groove for the twin guitar attack of Brian “Head” Welch and James “Munky” Shaffer. Korn doesn’t just stand on stage and play the songs. Every band member seems to leave every ounce of energy they have on the stage. Davis expertly worked the entire stage, making sure fans in every seat could get a good view. The lighting production on this tour is fantastic, adding to the already stellar sound. They haven’t lost a step since forming nearly thirty years ago. Davis sounded note-perfect all night. Their main set culminated with one of their biggest hits, “Freak On A Leash” from 1998’s Follow The Leader. The encore included fan-favorite “A.D.I.D.A.S.” and the closer “Blind.” It was great to have them back.
