More Music Less Violence Announces Third Artist Showcase

SCHENECTADY – More Music Less Violence has proudly announced their third artist showcase will take place Sunday, March, 27th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the SEAT Center in Schenectady, NY. Hosting the event is local personality Billy Floyd, who also hosts the podcast, “Who’s On The News.” Following Floyd, a lineup of local musicians will round out the evening: Sibie Lavoz, Dev Rosario, ‘92, Quav13, Shanyia Monaee, Aari, Mandella Eskia, Bez Aloha and Rell Dolo. The cover charge for the event is $5.

For the event, More Music Less Violence is partnering with CREATE Community Studios for the community networking hour starting at 4:00 pm. With locations in both Schenectady and Saratoga Springs, CREATE provides space for individuals and the community as a whole to utilize different creative processes in the pursuit of personal growth, communication, and social change. Representatives will be there to help attendees with the creation of tie-dye fabric squares, which will be turned into a community quilt at a later time.

Native Schenectady artist Rae Frasier, creator of the Art Mon3y brand, will be in-house doing a live painting session while promoting messages of equality. Frasier is a major artistic presence, who uses her talent to highlight human-rights issues, sometimes at the expense of being uncomfortable. There will also be two guest speakers bringing the community information about different options other than violence.

Jennifer Lawrence, SEAT CEO and founder, and Emmanuel McCall, SEAT recruitment coordinator, will be present to speak on the company’s strong initiative to give the young people of the Capital Region hopefulness and connect them to employment opportunities that matter.

Mfalme (Don X) Sikivu, CEO and Founder of UFD (Ujamaa Fraternal Dynasty) will have the opportunity to share his own success after failure story. Identifying as a formerly incarcerated man, Sikivu runs a UFD organization with members consisting of young people aged 15 to 22 who are working to better themselves and the community around them through mutual success and prosperity.

More Music Less Violence has grown tremendously since its initial pop-up event in the summer of 2020. They are now a permanent organization with a presence that is promoting change in the Capital Region. More Music Less Violence is an organization focused on building up a new era of musicians through nonviolent expressions. With a peaceful positive curated lineup, a safe space for creative freedom, healing, and community is born.

Originally from Brooklyn, DJ HollyW8D energizes crowds throughout the Upstate New York Capital Region. He has always gravitated to music throughout his life and hopes to bring versatility in his music mixing wherever he goes. Drawing inspiration from many including his mother, Sean P. Diddy Combs, and DJ Puffy, HollyW8D aims to inspire others with his daily grind and optimistic energy. He has been featured in The Alt Weekly and has played music at venues such as Rivers Casino, Fuze Box, and Jupiter Hall. DJ HollyW8D is an influencer who curates showcases for independent artists. He believes music brings energy, joy, nostalgia, and good vibes. HollyW8D quickly learned that being a DJ It’s more than music; it is a platform to move not only bodies but also the human spirit, to change the mood of an entire room, to share the light with other artists and space with people who share a passion for music.
