Guitarist Matt Smith Hits Two Area Venues on Successive Nights

ALBANY, SARATOGA SPRINGS – Guitarist Matt Smith will play two Nippertown-area venues this week on successive nights, reuniting with former bandmates. On Thursday, October 6, he will play Pauly’s Hotel in Albany. The next night, he will bring his show to Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs. Take advantage of this opportunity to see him at either location – you won’t be disappointed.

Matt Smith has deep roots in the Capital District. He grew up in Clifton Park and lived here until 1994.  He left the Capital District in 1994, first relocating to New York City for 15 years, then to Austin, where he remains today. Smith’s performances will reunite him with his former bandmates: Tony Perrino (keys), Chris Peck (bass), Pete Sweeney (drums), Brian Melick (percussion), and Charlie Tokarz (woodwinds), all of whom are top-notch musicians.

Smith’s credentials beyond the Capital District are impressive. He’s played the Blue Note as well as Carnegie Hall, Central Park Summerstage, and Eisenhower Park with the New York Pops Orchestra. He’s performed with, opened for, or recorded with B.B. King, Sheryl Crow, Trey Anastasio, Al DiMeola, Greg Allman, Los Lobos, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Adrian Legg, Ed Gerhard, Portishead and many others. A born troubadour, Matt has performed at numerous international guitar festivals including the Bath International Guitar Festival and the Montreal Guitar Festival.
