ALBANY – It was Ladies Night on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Hollow, thanks to Guthrie Bell Productions. It was only one night, but the lineup was stacked with four sensational female artists — Belle Skinner, Al Olender, Sydney Worthley, and The Laura Leigh Band. Each performer was unique in her own way but each one of them absolutely blew me away.

Belle Skinner

Belle-Skinner started things off with an absolutely stunning set. She sang in several languages — an already difficult enough skill to learn, but her range is what really impressed me. She was hitting high notes with ease and dropping back down like it was effortless. She reminded me of a movie star from the ’50s, and she was absolute perfection in a tiny little package. If you missed last night’s set, you can catch her at Lark Hall on Nov. 23, or you can check out one of her many album releases by visiting her website.

Al Olender

Al Olender followed Belle and I fell head over heels in love with yet another female singer on Friday night. Al’s absolutely stunning voice was silky and smooth like softened butter — and just as delicious. The beauty of her voice absolutely matched the beauty of her soul. As a viewer, you could tell Al is an artist that lets it all out on stage and it is a delightful thing to witness.

Sydney Worthley

Sydney Worthley and her band were the third act of the night — and they absolutely rocked. Sydney and her band blew me away with their signature sound. Many of their songs took me back to the ’80s in the best possible way. Sydney’s voice was an absolute knockout and their set was a blast. Sydney has a new single on the way titled “How Soon is Now” and you can catch her on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at The Ruck in Troy.

The Laura Leigh Band

The headliner for the evening was The Laura Leigh Band. Unlike the other acts, I have seen Laura Leigh before — however, I seriously can’t get enough. Their folky country sound, steel guitar, and Laura’s voice all blend together to delight the senses in every way. If you missed them last night don’t worry, you can catch them at the Parish Public House on Nov. 23 or Pauly’s Hotel on Dec. 2.

In all, last night was an absolute blast from start to finish. Every lady up on that stage had talent oozing from every pore. If you get a chance to see any of these acts in the future, you would be a fool to miss them.
