Lucas Garrett Celebrates Album Release at Caffe Lena Thursday

SARATOGA SPRINGS – On Thursday, Dec. 1, Lucas Garrett will officially celebrate the release of his latest album, “Reaching through Dreams,” at the storied Caffe Lena. Those who have gotten a preview of the material are understandably excited at the prospect of hearing it in this venerable and acoustically stunning listening room.

Garrett has played professionally for over nine years. In this time, he has incorporated his idiosyncratic vocal stylings into an unusual and varied blend of progressive rock, folk, new wave, and indie to create a unique sound that is both immediately appealing, yet unique. This is his fourth album, following his debut, “Evening’s Come, But it’s Not Dark” (2017), “Love is Better” (2019), and “Familiar Floors” (2020).

With his latest album, “Reaching Through Dreams,” Garrett explores the vulnerable: the acceptance of love in his life, the anxiety that comes from it, and the path forward. Armed with a rumbling baritone that has correctly been described as “one of the most distinct voices in the 518 music scene,” Garrett takes us on a journey across musical genres, all the while married with insightful and thought-provoking lyrics. This is no off-handed release – Garrett, a math major, has released something substantive, something meaningful, but without ever become onerous. It’s thoughtful and constructed, like a mathematical proof, yet also undeniably elegant like…a mathematical proof. It is, simply put, the work of a thoughtful local artist that you need to hear.

“He puts his musicianship and songwriting skills to work, displaying the talents and personality that have made him one of the more thoughtful artists in our area”

James Shahen, Jr., Times Union

In a recent interview with this publication, Garrett described how he has had his fair share of ups and downs, but that “I’m back.” Come celebrate his resurgence and his new album Thursday night.
