Music Haven Series Goes Year-Round with New Passport Series

For 30 years, the Music Haven Concert Series has presented an amazing array of global sounds in Schenectady’s Central Park, transporting summer seekers to locales like Yemen, Ukraine, Louisiana, Ireland and Peru without ever having to leave their seats.

The Passport Series takes the same beloved world music that patrons of the park series have come to cherish and brings it to Proctors in Schenectady and Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga so the party can continue all year!

The 2023 Passport Series Shows include:

Dervish: Friday, March 3, 7:30 pm @ Proctors

Dervish has been bringing Irish traditional music to the world for more than 25 years.  Described by the BBC as “an icon of Irish music”, the band has played at festivals from Rock in Rio to Glastonbury and struck up tunes on the Great Wall of China. Dervish has a line-up that includes some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians, fronted by one of the country’s best-known singers, Cathy Jordan.

Tiempo Libre: Friday, March 24, 8:00 pm @ Universal Preservation Hall

The members of 3x Grammy®-nominated Tiempo Libre are true modern heirs to the rich musical tradition of their native Cuba. Don’t miss the chance to Salsa to one of the hottest Latin bands of today.

Aynur: Thursday, May 4, 7:30 pm @ Proctors

Over the years Aynur has become one of the most well-known musicians from Turkey and a representative for the Kurdish people. Her vocal style and her albums are praised not just in Turkish media but also in international media.

ADG7: Friday, May 5, 8:00 pm @ Universal Preservation Hall

With one foot in the world of tradition and another in glitzy upbeat pop, ADG7 (Ak Dan Gwang Chil) is a multi-award winning group featuring a rich repertoire inspired by Korea’s sacred, shamanic ritual music (gut) and beloved folk songs (minyo) of Hwanghae Province in the northern reaches of the Peninsula. Their powerful performances engage and immerse like no other.
