Editor’s Note: Mark Garrett reached out to Amy and specifically asked that we print the following response from him. We are only too happy to do so.

“I am personally still trying to find the words to thank everyone for all of their encouragement , love and support for this last year and a half. I wanted to say something at the show but didn’t want to get choked up and embarrass myself. I have never ever been so touched by love and generosity coming at me in so many different way, shapes and forms. Prayers, notes, emails, telephone calls, texts, monetary donations, visits and so much more. So touching and thoughtful, it will never ever be forgotten. The show was electric and honestly I have never been so nervous about playing in my life, that was straight from the heart. Last night I was fueled with the love for Alaina and being her Daddy and an unbelievable network of friends and support. I have no plans to ever succumb to this terrible disease. My journey and my battle continue – I am in God’s hands, and like the old biblical footprints in the sand, he needs to carry me just a little bit further. Love to you all and Thank You for everything.”

CLIFTON PARK – Friday night, metal fans packed into Wicked to celebrate the triumphant return of Mark Garrett to the stage after a long battle with cancer. The night featured four bands – Ginsu Project, Super 8 Six, UnCivil Liberty, and China White – playing a mix of hard rock covers and original metal.

The night was especially meaningful because Mark Garrett had played in all three of the latter bands – Super 8 Six, UnCivil Liberty, and China White. His friends and fans were thrilled to see him back in action behind the kit and playing his heart out with his bandmates once again.

Ginsu Project kicked off the show with a high-energy set that got the crowd fired up. The packed house was highly anticipated and very welcoming to all of the bands, with loving and adoring fans filling the room.

As always, Michelle Maneri’s lighting was superb, and Ryan Neilsen provided polished and pristine sound. All of the bands had dynamic stage presence that reflected the music they were performing.

Notable moments included audience participation, guest musicians, and lots of love from a max capacity crowd of long-time friends. It was a night to remember, filled with great music and the celebration of a true fighter’s return to the stage.
