The Attic Classic: The 45-year singing partnership of Terri Huxtable, Carol Christensen and Liz Hood sadly ended with Liz’ passing in 2019. Based in Saratoga Springs, the trio began performing in coffeehouses and at folk festivals in the 1970’s, singing the popular music and songs from across five centuries. Known for tight vocal harmonies, often acapella, and accompanying themselves on a variety of instruments over inventive arrangements and with lively performances, they were a favorite with audiences for years.

Huxtable, Christensen & Hood‘s first album ‘Wallflowers’ was released in 1980 on Philo Records, a Vermont based folk and traditional music label. It was reissued by Rounder Records in 1986 and is still available only on vinyl. The record reflected the mix of tunes they were known to perform, along with a couple of Terri’s originals.

The Local 518 Attic Classic is “Lake George 1922,” one of Terri’s songs from ‘Wallflowers’ on which Liz sings lead.

Here’s an acapella version of “The Streams of Lovely Nancy” performed live in 2016. The song is available on the trio’s 1986 CD ‘Melancholy Babies.’
