Reese Fulmer and The Carriage House Band to Perform at The Cock ‘n Bull, Feb. 23

GALWAY – On Thursday, Feb. 23, The Cock ‘n Bull welcomes audiences to join them for an evening of indie-folk, blues ‘n Americana music from Reese Fulmer and his ever-evolving group of musicians, The Carriage House Band.

If you ask Reese about himself, he’ll tell you he’s a brand new soul. But his songs tell a different story, with a clear eye, poetic touch, and unique imagination, of a conduit to something much older and deeper. Born and raised in Gloucester, MA, Reese has quickly made a name for himself in the Capital Region as a precocious songwriter and engaging performer, with a sound reminiscent of Josh Ritter, Justin Townes Earle, and Iron & Wine.

The Carriage House Band has a fluid lineup, appearing from a trio to a six-piece format, and has featured a dozen of the most talented players in the Capital Region. “I want to try to keep things spontaneous, keep challenging the band and letting them adapt to new players and listen to each other,” says Fulmer of his vision for the group. “I love hearing those conversations happen between them in real time and keeping the arrangements loose, letting everyone find it along the way.”
Partly because of this fluidity, the band’s sound is hard to pin down. “I would say indie-folk is close, but there are blues and jazz and Americana influences. To be honest, I don’t really care, it’s not for me to decide,” says Fulmer, “All I know is we have a blast playing together, and they constantly surprise me with the ways they take my music and expand it and take it to new places.”
