E.R.I.E. Set to Release Final Single Off Forthcoming Album on March 8th

ALBANY – Albany-based indie-rock outfit E.R.I.E. return with the latest single from their emphatic, forthcoming album, Suburban Mayhem. The new single, “Bad Man’s World,” showcases the band’s energetic, joyful indie-rock style with a tongue-in-cheek lyrical content. Lyrically, the track takes a comedic swipe at modern, suburban life in America to the backdrop of raucous indie-punk.

The four members of E.R.I.E. – guitarist Matt Delgado, vocalist TJ Foster, drummer Chad Flewwelling and bassist Levi Jennes – formed from a harrowing experience. After emergency heart surgery in 2018, songwriter TJ Foster spent the following year writing and recording the debut album, Don’t Wanna Live, Don’t Wanna Die. The album reflected Foster’s personal struggles with mental and physical health. The band’s second LP, Suburban Mayhem, is set to release on April 7th, 2023 via Mint 400 Records taking a broader focus, commenting on the external forces that impact us daily. It features collaborations with Brooklyn-based dream-pop trio ALMA and fellow Albany area songwriter Sydney Worthley. E.R.I.E. has developed a signature sound that they describe as The Menzingers, Tom Petty and blink-182 thrown in a blender. They’ve quickly developed a strong live presence and are considered one of the most reliable and entertaining acts in the thriving Albany, NY music scene. With every performance, the band displays energy, vulnerability, and appreciation.

The band’s sophomore album contains 12 nostalgia-tinged songs with catchy choruses and crunchy guitars. The new single “Bad Man’s World” is a perfect example of what’s to come.

The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve struggled with this notion of “manhood.” There is this awful, patriarchal element to our society that is impossible to justify. It’s a deeply flawed world run by deeply flawed men. I’ve never been one of those men who acts tough or “masculine” (in a stereotypical sense), yet those are the types of men awarded such controls. I wanted to write a tongue-in-cheek song that examined all of this. Like, how much easier would life be if I was just a chauvinistic, cutthroat asshole instead? It’s hard to remember sometimes, but even though we live in a bad man’s world, it’s the good ones – the gentle and kind ones – who leave the greatest impact. That’s what I aspire to be.

~TJ Foster (Vocals/Guitar)
