The Attic Classic: It would not be an understatement to say that Saratoga Springs band SKELETONS IN THE PIANO were a little unusual. They stood apart from other local rock bands, their innovative live performances an otherworldly collaboration of music making and physical art creation by painters creating works as they played. Eventually, members were added to invoke the spirits of ancestors in the art world with percussion and dance.

Skeletons in the Piano’s Elijah Hargrave, guitarist and lead vocalist, and Eric Donovan, on drums, started out in 2007 with the intent of creating interesting shows and parties. The band became a four-piece in 2008 with the addition of Jeff Ayers on violin and keyboards, and Dustin Iuliano on bass and back-up vocals, recording a full-length album called ‘Certain Slow Murder’ as well as the ‘Keys’ EP.

Following tours, radio airplay, even an hour-long cable-TV special in Glens Falls, the band recorded a second album ‘Stranger on a Damned Staircase’ at Don Fury‘s Troy studio in 2010, which was also followed by another EP titled ‘LongPig.’

After acquiring a new member, guitarist Brad Thibideau and signing with Magnetic Eye Records in 2012, they began work on a third full-length, the crowd-funded ‘Please Don’t Die’ LP which was released in early 2013.

In the spirit of Skeletons in the Piano honoring the art ancestors that came before, the Attic Classic is the version of “Long Pig” from ‘Please Don’t Die,’ the song first appearing on the same-named 2011 EP.
