Alive at Five: Series to Kick Off its Season with Hawthorne Heights and Bad Luck, June 8th

ALBANY – Don’t miss the Alive at Five outdoor summer concert series at Jennings Landing in Albany this year! Showcasing a diverse lineup of big names, up-and-coming acts, and the region’s most talented original artists, Alive at Five offers eight weeks of free, critically-acclaimed, themed performances catering to nearly every taste. For its opening week, the event, billed as Emo Pride Week, will feature Hawthorne Heights and Bad Luck.

Hawthorne Heights, formerly A Day in the Life, is an American band formed in 2001. The band consists of JT Woodruff on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Matt Ridenour on bass and backing vocals; Mark McMillon on lead guitar and unclean backing vocals; Chris Popadak on drums and percussion

Finding commercial success with their first two albums, The Silence in Black and White (2004), and If Only You Were Lonely (2006), their second album additionally peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts. They are also well known for their 2006 single “Saying Sorry.”

With the passing of guitarist Casey Calvert on November 24, 2007, the band is now a four-piece. Still active, Hawthorne Heights released its seventh full-length album titled The Rain Just Follows Me in September 2021.
