Alive at Five Celebrates Hip-Hop Night with Rakim, DJ J-Ronin, and Camtron 5000, July 27th

ALBANY – On July 27th, Albany’s Alive at Five series will celebrate its Hip-Hop Night! Featured performers for this free, family-friendly event at Jennings Landing are Rakim, DJ J-Ronin, and Camtron 5000.

Known by his stage name, Rakim, William Michael Griffin Jr. is an American rapper and record producer. Widely held as one of the most influential and skilled in his genre, Rakim helped establish using internal and multisyllable rhymes, crafting lyrics ahead of time instead of the improvisational methods that were prevalent at the time. Rakim released four albums as half of Eric B. & Rakim, and has released three solo albums.

The Alive at Five series will be held on Thursdays, 4:30 pm to 8:00pm, from June 8th – Aug. 3rd (excluding June 29). Showcasing a diverse lineup of big names, up-and-coming acts, and the region’s most talented original artists, Alive at Five offers eight weeks of free, critically-acclaimed, themed performances catering to nearly every taste.
