The Attic Classic: From the quiver of multi-talented VALERIE DeLaCRUZ, each arrow has struck its mark. Whether it be writing, art, photography, interior design, TV production, or music. Performing her own songs as early as 15, her musical path included solo turns and acoustic harmony acts, Top 40, R&B, and country rock bands, along with small jazz combos. All of it brought her back around to her roots, writing and recording original country-pop songs.

For a short while, Valerie’s music took a back seat as she developed a successful commercial interior design business, got married, and began raising a family. But, regular trips to Nashville to hone her songwriting chops led to refocusing on writing, not just singing. A couple of independent CD releases included 1998’s ‘My Girlfriends Quilt,’ the song a starting point of an album project with the same title, which celebrated the variety of personalities – like a quilt – within the sisterhood of friendship. Of 15 tracks on the album, a handful were written by Valerie, but all centered around the theme of friendship.

The Attic Classic is one of her original songs, “Sister ( I’d Choose You For My Friend )” the lead track on the album.
