The Attic Classic: AFICIONADO began in 2004 when a group of Saint Rose alumni got together with the intention of taking the music world by storm as a post-hardcore band. It wasn’t long until that plan got sidetracked, as the band experimented and expanded their sound in search of a musical identity.

On one hand, the lack of a definitive sound during a late wave of popularity for pop punk made it hard for the band to establish themselves. On the other hand, as they weren’t trying to sound like everybody else, they attracted some major attention.

Following years of DIY touring, they connected with a management group. Then, in 2009, the band signed to No Sleep Records, which resulted in their first EP, ‘When It Comes to Creation’ in 2010. Following the release, the band quickly gained traction and began touring extensively, including annual trips to the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX.

In 2011, Aficionado released their self-titled debut full-length album to critical praise and more touring as a support act. 2012 found the band releasing the “Empty” 7-inch record. But shortly after, the band announced their official split, citing burnout and needing a break.

Aficionado’s story doesn’t end then, but it’s time to feature “Do Nothing, Be Nothing” as the Attic Classic from their first EP.
