Schenectady-born Steve Katz visits The Linda on October 27th

ALBANY – Blood, Sweat & Tears co-founder, and Schenectady-raised Steve Katz is coming to The Linda Performing Arts Theatre in Albany on October 27th. Katz is a versatile musician known for his guitar aptitude, along with his singing, songwriting, and storytelling skills. Known for breaking down genre barriers, Katz contributed to projects in various music genres in the ’60s and ’70s, including folk, jazz, blues, R&B, and hard rock.

Though experimenting with multiple genres, Katz always gravitated towards folk and blues music. He eventually found himself in a circle with fellow blues artists and with that, became a fixture in the local music scene and joined The Blues Project, one of New York City’s early contributions to blues rock. The Blues Project has had a major impact on music, but also in Katz’s personal life as he and bandmate Al Kooper later founded the original Blood, Sweat & Tears.

Katz recorded five albums with Blood, Sweat & Tears and went on to play legendary venues and life-altering events including Woodstock. The band achieved tremendous success and even won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year in 1970.

After leaving Blood, Sweat & Tears, Katz decided to pursue a career in record production, and ended up working with notable artists like Lou Reed and the country-rock band American Flyer. In his recent years, Katz has been captivating audiences with his solo performances and book talks, offering fans a nostalgic, music related journey. His return to the Capital Region should be no different.
