The Attic Classic: The VODKASONICS had been playing their hard-edged power pop rock locally and as far away as Boston and New York City before heading into Ted Hyland’s recording studio. The trio of Seth Powell (vocals/guitar), Brendan Slater (bass), and J.J. Hogan (drums) put down seven songs, a guitar-centered set with a sound reminiscent of the Beatles and early Elvis Costello, maybe even a grittier Squeeze. The songs were assembled into the band’s first full-length CD titled ‘Take Her To The Zoo!’ which was released on Cacophone Records in 1998. The Local 518 Attic Classic is “Knock Me Out” – the very first track on the disc.
