Attic Classic: For Greenwich-based Americana and roots rock band EASTBOUND JESUS, 2011 was a breakthrough year. Formed in the fall of 2010, the quintet of Adam Brockway (acoustic guitar/vocals), Dave Wright (bass), Carl Anderson (drums/vocals), Luke Anderson (banjo/vocals) and Zack Infante (electric guitar) found, as they put together songs over the winter, that their musical influences were creating a sound that was both authentic and modern.

By late January 2011, they had home-recorded and released their debut album, Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, which displayed the band’s unique blend of traditional bluegrass, country, and rock & roll. Continually writing new songs and picking up fans through high-energy live shows, Eastbound Jesus continued to musically evolve, adding Dylan Robinson to the lineup on lead guitar, as Zack took over on lap steel.

Early summer found the band winning SPAC’s second annual Battle of the Bands against ten finalists. They took the momentum they had built, along with a fresh batch of songs, into The Recording Company and Edie Road Studios late November to record their 2012 album Holy Smokes.

The album showcased their genre melding “Northern rock” sound, the band’s impressive musicianship on full display throughout with tight harmonies, intricate instrumental arrangements, and infectious hooks. On the horizon for this band was an ever-growing legion of fans, more albums to be recorded and in 2015, the first Eastbound Throwdown held outside the Greenwich Elks Lodge.

The Attic Classic is “For The Ride” from the Holy Smokes album. As an added bonus, here’s the official music video for the title track:
