Top Tips for Live Music (for the week beginning May 10th)
Lots of concert announcements to digest this week. Probably the biggest news is Trey Anastasio’s three night stand at SPAC in June. Helps compensate for the other postponements and cancellations that continue to decimate their season. The Flaming Lips at the Palace is a show to genuinely get excited about. Similarly, the Fresh Grass Festival was announced, and with acts including Trombone Shorty and Bela Fleck that looks like a winner as well. More near term, how about the 2-day jam band Spring Jubilee down in the Catskills? Much to choose from in the area – get out there and enjoy it.
Best bet: I’m loving the psychedelic triple bill of The Abyssmals, Laveda, and Electric Turtle over at Rare Form on Friday. Good music and good vibes on the patio to welcome in the summer. Oh yeah, and it’s free.
