Yam Yam and Hilltop Bring the Funk to Putnam Place Oct. 13th

SARATOGA SPRINGS – On October 13, Putnam Place is set to host a great night of jam and funk, featuring headliner, Yam Yam. Kicking the night off is local band, Hilltop. Come out for a fantastic night of danceable music, and celebrate Friday the 13th the right way!

Hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Yam Yam is dedicated to exploring and creating beautiful music together while traveling throughout the United States. The members bring a diverse range of influences to the group, including jazz, gospel, jam, and funk. Michael Dempsey plays piano and organ with a focus on jazz, gospel, and New Orleans boogie, while Xander Moppin provides the foundation of funk on bass. Tyler (Kokko) Fuller brings the pocket to the drums, and his brother Tom Fuller adds groove and ethereal psychedelic soloing on guitar. As if that wasn’t enough, the virtuous saxophone playing of Jason Mescia brings influence from Eddie Harris and John Coltrane to the mix. Together, they create a high energy, soulful, and psychedelic sound that is sure to get fans moving.

Albany-based quartet Hilltop have made a name for themselves over the past five years with carefully crafted originals, mind bending improvisation & fun, diverse covers. Each member offers a proficient, unique approach to their instrument that defines the musical experience. This band of young musicians is eager to spread their music and will continue to engage crowds wherever they go.
